It started as a weekly series in Marianas Variety.

In order to pass on the stories and courage of Guam’s World War II survivors, a group of passionate island leaders, descendants of war survivors, writers and artists came together to form the Guam War Survivors Memorial Foundation. The Foundation started four years ago as a simple project entitled, “Real People. Real Stories.”, which set out to increase public awareness about the experiences of Guam’s World War II survivors. This project began as a weekly series in the Marianas Variety, and featured the unedited testimonies and photos of 30 Guam war survivors, who had spoken before the Guam War Claims Review Commission in December 2003.
